2015 Staff Sue German sgerman@stpaulsfw.org Mrs. German has a B.A. in Education with an emphasis in church music from Concordia University in Seward, NE.  She holds a current Indiana elementary teaching license.  Mrs. German has taught for 19 years with 17 of those years in Lutheran schools in Ohio and Indiana.  German grew up south of Fort Wayne in the rural Decatur area.  She and her husband, Mark, have 5 children and 6 grandchildren.  Mrs. German enjoys singing in choirs, reading, cooking, baking, and traveling to see her children and grandchildren!

"All I really need to know I learned in Kindergarten."  This remains true in Mrs. German's Kindergarten class!  Kindergarten is a big transition for children.  For some, it is the first experience in a school environment.  It can be scary and exciting.  Students will learn a tremendous amount in Kindergarten- sizes, colors, shapes, numbers, reading readiness, how to listen and follow directions, time, motor skills, writing skills, social skills and good school behavior (just to name a few)!  Kindergartners learn to be independent - to pick up after themselves, take care of their own things, zip/button their own coats and tie their own shoes.  Kindergartners at St. Paul's work on all of these skills.  However, the most important Kindergarten Field Trip -Safety Village 2011thing the Kindergarten students at St. Paul's will learn is the love of Jesus Christ through daily devotions, prayers, hymns, memory work, and weekly chapel services.

Kindergarten Field Trip - Botantical Garden 2011 ChaseThere are many opportunities for parents to assist in the Kindergarten class room - with reading stations, field trips, the Kindergarten musical and class parties.  Class field trips often include the History Center (for the Gingerbread Exhibit), a visit to a local farm, McMillen Health Center, Safety Village, and the Botanical Conservatory (during the Butterfly Exhibit).  Each spring the Kindergartners enjoy Field Day at Concordia Lutheran High School along with a number of other Lutheran Schools.  Parents and students always love the Kindergarten musical in the fall.
