St. Paul's welcomes author and illustrator Joni Walker to the staff this year!  Ms. Walker grew up in rural Indiana and graduated from John Herron School of Art in 1985 with a BFA in Visual Communications. During her time in college, she became interested in children's book illustrating. She is an author and illustrator of many children's books published by Concordia Publishing House.

Before Joni was an author and illustrator she worked as a freelance artist.  Joni teaches art to children and adults ranging from ages 5-90 and paints murals for Elementary Schools and businesses. She draws nearly everyday and works at developing her own unique characters. Joni has three children and lives in rural Whitley County, Indiana.  Her little dogs, Artie and Maisy are often the subject of her work.

Her books include the Follow and Do series and several board books such as Jesus Loves Me and Tell Me What God Made. Some of the things she loves about being an author and illustrator are visiting schools and showing children how fun drawing and writing can be and also getting up each morning, feeling blessed to have the opportunity to do what she loves.  We are so excited to have Joni share her God-given talents with the students of St. Paul's!
